Dreams: The aroma of our lives

Dreams: The aroma of our lives
by: Rizhel Ann Supremo

Coo coo! Coo Coo! - your alarm clock just sounded and another day has started. It's 6am and you're ready to jumpstart your day. Looking forward to what comes your way and nothing more left to say but to do your routine everyday. A sip of coffee for the caffeine boost to your brain and hoping today won't rain.
No more rhymes but let me tell you what's on my mind. Everyday is but a dream put into reality. Dreaming is not just meant for sleeping. It's more about our ambitions, our driving force in life. It keeps us alive, giving us a sense of direction, a purpose to fulfill, a mission to be accomplished. Dreaming too much without action is dead, merely living like a puppet and abiding to the commands of the adversities in your biological existence. Dreams and ambitions should raise our hopes to be somebody in this world., to be who you really are and to strive for that shooting star. Facts and fiction collide when dreams come to play its part. But you should do your part as well - to live the dream, you should go beyond your comfort zones. Plan a stratagem, trust yourself, know your real friends and most of all have faith in God. Today is the day to go after your dream, it can never be yesterday that passed by nor wait for tomorrow's uncertainty. Get up from bed and start your day with a zest in life.
Dreams are the aroma of our lives bringing a deeper purpose and meaning to each day. Dreaming keeps you ageless beyond wonders and knowledge. Wake up now and live your life like an awakenindg dream.

Why only humans get a heart attack

Why only humans get a heart attack

by: Rizhel Ann Supremo

According to recent international statistics, Heart diseases remain to be the leading cause of deaths worldwide. There are several types of heart diseases depending on the cause and area affected. One lethal incident that may be a result of undiagnosed heart diseases is a myocardial infarction also known as a "heart attack". A "heart attack" is the term commonly applied to people who have suffered a myocardial infarction (MI), most commonly related to coronary artery disease. The myocardium is the muscular tissue of the heart; it receives nutrients and oxygen from the coronary arteries. The coronary arteries are small blood vessels in the myocardium which bring blood from the aorta, the main artery of the body. The common symptoms are squeezing chest pain and syncope (fainting episodes). What makes untreated MI (Myocardial infarction) lethal is that the damaged blood vessel renders insufficient blood flow to different body parts. This insufficient blood flow may cause weakness and paralysis to our limbs. A "heart attack" is only applicable to human beings for the very main fact that we are among the 4 mammals who doesn't produce their own vitamin C. These mammals are the fruit bats, gorillas, guinea pigs, and of course we, the human beings. Among the 4 mammals, we are the rational ones with irrational actions. From the 4, our species tend to eat unhealthy food and lack enough exercise. Since, we don't produce our vitamin C, we take vitamin supplementation daily as it is a water soluble vitamin excreted in our urine. The very main fact that we don't produce our own vitamin C contributes to the risk of having a heart attack that is also linked to how well we maintain our immune system. Vitamin supplementation and exercise is not enough for you to lessen the risk of having a heart attack. Since, most heart diseases are caused by unhealthy lifestyle, focus on eliminating bad habits. A great percentage of heart attack victims are the obese and smokers. We are the more rational beings, we have our own choices- to love healthy or not, yet animals are more healthy even if what they do and eat are just based on natural instincts. Let this be a lesson to all of us that the world is easily changing and that we are given more options. Choose a healthy lifestyle now and live a healthy heart today and tomorrow.

A clean towel for a clean and beautiful face

The concept of beauty has slowly evolved throughout the years. From traditional to conventional to the non-conventional ways like surgeries and chemical applications. Let's not forget that our daily routine contributes much compare to these expensive procedures.

For example, your daily face towel. It may sound so simple and senseless to say this but it really affects a lot to our daily facial care. To promote good hygiene, we have to change our face towels and body towels at least every week. The reason behind this is that it can be the primary source of dirt and germs that may be the one causing your oily face and unwanted pimples. Every time you wash your face before you go to sleep, you feel fresh and clean but why are you still having those pimples? You may not notice it but sometimes you forget to change the towel you use to wipe your face. Some people opt for disposable face wipes but majority uses the humble and simple towel. A lot of people doesn't change these towels and this become the venue for you transferring dirt and dead skin cells to a refreshed face. It is important to promote good hygiene first in taking care of our skin. I do hope from now on, you'll change your towels frequently and have a separate one for the face and body. One towel for the face and another one for the body because you don't want body germs and dirt to be misplaced in your face. Don't you?

Out of my Element

Out of my Element

Wandering in the vagueness of the mist

found myself bewildered in frivolous space

overwhelmed by my doubts, fears and frailties,

my spirit went astray to a queer valley

It felt bizarre strolling along peculiar bounds

listening to the cold wind's weak bellow

with the stench of wilted roses in the graveyard,

faint-heartedly,I quibbled into a warm refuge

frigidly,I cloaked my hands around my arms

seeking an earnest flame in a stream of water

striving to grasp the ground while drifting in the heavens

unravel this esoteric being

relinquish me from this dark dungeon

out of this maze, safely back to "me".

The changing face of beauty

September 14, 2008

I read a lot on the free magazine included with the newspaper. Thanks to Inquirer for giving those cool freebies. The mag basically contained alot of articles and fun facts about beauty, the facts and fallacies. The believable and the unbelievable. So let me start with the first article I read, it was all about our Filipino perception on Beauty. The slim, fair and straight hair Asian look, the tall brown eyed meztisas. Those are just a few of the ideal " beautiful Filipina women" labels- a very stereotyped image. Of course, not only women are affected by this kind of virus. Men too are now vainer than ever. I realized, that all my life, I've been brainwashed by the media to think the same way and adhere to this kind of mentality.Everyday is like a struggle of survival from my ever drowning ego trying to reach some of these standard expectations of what they call "beauty". I realized that I'll never be happy of who I really am if I still dream too much and float on those mere fantasies of being a 5′8 model, with green eyes, fair skin and a much slimmer body. I'm really just dreaming too much, and I should wake up...now... I should be more like Betty of Ugly Betty (a popular American show), I'll accept myself and be true to who I really am. Another problem is that I expect too much of "the ideal guy " that's why...maybe I'll never learn how to love coz I'm more skeptic on physical details. I learned a lot, and i hope you too...Be real and the inner beauty will shine within...

Your red sneakers and faded jeans

i don't know what this feeling means

Always thinking of you night and day

Held me captive in this way

Can I just call you on your phone?

and just say "are you safely back home?"

or it may sound weird to ask you out

but nevermind I'm in doubt

coz I'm not one of those girls you ...

Drowning in the whispers

Darkness is who I really am
covered in dismal imperfections
barely existing in the world,
a mere being of doubt
just a stranger passing by
consumed between heaven and hell,
the sorrow, comfort in misery.
alone but never lonely...

How to choose a church that fits you?

by: Rizhel Ann Supremo

Religion plays a major role in molding our current civilization and culture. It's a basic principle to have a definite human belief on an entity or possibly another human being. If you're an atheist, these things won't bother you at all. But if there are circumstances from which you want to be a part of another religion or convert to a new one, here are some key points for you to consider on weighing your options on a more solid approach.

1. Know it's history

History tells us that people never did learn anything from history and mistakes are just repeated all the time. That's indeed a fallacy. We always look back at our pasts and examine our shortcomings to better understand the present and future. It's essential for you to know the history of that certain religion for you to prepare yourself on what lies ahead.

2. Who do I believe in?

Some people believe on a strong force that link them to the entity they believe in and some may not. This kind of force serves as a bridge of communication between your conscious self and to that entity. Before making a choice, delve into your inner soul's longings and internalize what your inner being speaks for.

3. What's my purpose for this change?

Stories are foretold from generations to generations about paradise lost and regain, about ex-convicts entering priesthood and stepping into "the light" and many more with some untold. For some, having a church to worship to or a religion to believe upon is a way for penance and reconciliation, and for others to change for the better. Marriage of different cultures also invokes one to be a part of their spouse's church. There are a lot of reasons behind everyone's belief. Let this reason be rational and logical for a good cause.

4. Am I ready for such thing?

Choosing your church us not merely like choosing an outfit for an event but more like choosing your skin- it become s a part of you. Are you ready for that commitment? Are you ready to tackle some changes in your life? By knowing the history of that religion, you'll already get an overview for some sacrifices you have to make to be a part of their community. Think it thoroughly.

5. The key to salvation is not by the choice of your church or religion.

This last but most vital point should not be left under the shadow. Different religions portray different roads to salvation. For the millions who believe or wonder on redemption and final judgment, there maybe or may not be an existence of afterlife. But let me just tell you about broad minded scientists who believe that the haven of redemption is really just here on earth. Though it's here, it's beyond our dimension, not perceived by mere human senses. We all want to have a meaningful life and perhaps a more meaningful life after death.

No matter who you believe in or what you believe in, it all boils down on you. You are the key to your salvation or whatever you perceive it to be. It all depends on your actions that show what you believe in. Everything you do here on earth is fully accounted for. Your belief is dead when it don't coincide with your actions. So remember the path you choose and what it's worth for.
Live well my friend!

Boys of today: The new species

It's around 4:17 pm, afternoon of the very 1st day of August. I got bored and decided to write this blog. I was bored because of the very main fact that I'm single, jobless, broke and under control by my guardians. Hey! I'm 20. Don't I deserve a bit of freedom because I earned a degree? Crap! It's a stupid course and I kinda hate it and the idea of being a nurse gives me goose bumps. Enough about that. I'm writing about boys and they're the main reason why I'm single. The boys of today are the gays of yesterday. (LOL!) They are vain, egotistical, arrogant, foolish and most of all insensitive. (Not all but probably the majority). They equate their number of cars to the number of girls they can get. They're cowards when they court you on the phone or on the computer. They stupidly inflate your heart with lies but prick it with the painful truth and poof! There goes your heart, deflated, empty and broken. Some guys even preferred to be courted instead. The nerves! What happened to chivalry when the guys use to offer you a hand when you get off the car? What happened to the image of a real gentleman? Of course, they died decades ago and what's left are the stupid dreams and ideals of the perfect guy planted at the back of the brains of every crazy girl who wants to fall in love with the idea of love. talk about chivalry, this guy I saw can't even offer his seat to an elder woman. Yeah, they say we should be treated equally these days. Hell! Can't you give the old woman the credit? Just like your mother, that old woman also experienced pushing you out real hard during labor to deliver you for you to crawl and live in this miserable world. For the record, I do admire some guys out there. They are quite rare and and endangered. They were the normal human being species and most of the guys nowadays transformed into mutants because of the toxins called arrogance and pride. I'm frustrated for the reason that more than a dozen of girls confide and cry on my shoulders because of assholes out there. I don't wanna get started with the idea of falling in love yet because of the boys these days that are really hard to trust. A new specie has emerged!
